After 10 things

Last week, our group students have a small group meeting with Jackie, we shared the 10 things which relevant to our design practice.

After that tutorial, I realized that I just showed parters what I interested, but I did not say why I was interested in these 10 things. Now I will explain why I think these things are interesting and relevant to my design practice.

  • Small & Good & Necessary

These two products which was designed by two designers from different countries and they belong two different design areas. But they have a common that I am very interested in.

Comparing with these two products. Folding Chair and Broke Bike Alley these two things have a characteristic —They all solve the  problem which these two products inconvenient to carry and maintain the original function unchanged.  Although these are little changes  I admire them. In my opinion, just a little simple change is a good design as long as it makes the product better.

However, like these two products, All-Weather Texting and Sweeper & Dustpan, they not only do a little improvement, but also to solve the drawbacks of these original products. So these two design are not only small good design, but also necessary small good design.

  • Combine

Usually, the Japanese designers enjoy  concerning about a point, that is the details. This design is a living space which through a number of folding and interspersed way to integrate into a small space.  It is no very simple I think. This need to meet the availability of the premise, and then fold the space. Japan is a country with a relatively high population density and a relatively competitive job pressure. This design can solve some social problems.

  • Technology

Product design is not a subject which just focus on shape, color, material and structure. Technology is also a very important factor in design. As the development of science and technology, many products began to intelligent direction. To understand some of the new technology, you can find more development direction of design.

  • DNA

When the user first saw these two cars, they can easily recognize the brand of these two cars without seeing the logo. The two-part kidney-shaped radiator grille, the brand emblem set centrally above it, and the twin round headlights jointly form a striking design composition in which the front headlamps. As a company or a brand design,Design personality is important.

  • Courage & Explore

I know this product is not very beautiful or very useful. But it is a good exploration for paper furniture. This design tells us a lot of possibilities, for instance, paper load capacity and the funny of DIY.
